1. Day Vancouver:
Often thought of as Canada's most beautiful city, Vancouver is a gorgeous thriving metropolis that's fortunate enough to be flanked by the ocean and mountains. With its numerous parks, beaches, gardens, museums, art galleries and ethnic diversity, Vancouver is one of those rare places that actually lives up to its promise of offering something for everyone. Tipps to visit Vancouver: Few locations offer a more spectacular view of this dynamic city than Stanley Park. The park offers miles of walking trails and bike paths, including an aquarium, outdoor pool, tennis courts and more. Granville Island's Public Market on Vancouver's west side is a wonderful place to grab a quick bite, shop for a gourmet meal and find unique souvenirs with its variety of shops, stalls and galleries. Robson Street and the surrounding downtown offer the best shopping and people-watching in town. Stores with European flair share the avenue with delicatessens, modern boutiques, coffee houses, and a myriad of ethnic eateries. Departure 17:00
2. Day At Sea:
All it takes to get the inside story of Alaska's beauty is a trip through the Inside Passage, Alaska's "water highway", where majestic fjords compete for your attention with mountain masterpieces carved by the glaciers. Small fishing villages along the coast dot breathtaking panoramas and the protected waters are perfect for spotting marine mammals and other wildlife.
3. Day Ketchikan:
Ketchikan was built along a steep hillside, with sections of the town built right over the water on pilings. The scenic rustic boardwalks on Creek Street preserves a distinct historic feel. Look along the water line and you're likely to see many bald eagles on waterside perches. An outstanding collection of majestic totem poles within the Saxman Village make a visit to Ketchikan essential for anyone interested in Native art. The towns nickname - Salmon Capital of the World was already established in 1936 when seven canneries produced 1.5 Mio cases of salmon. The abundance of salmon continues to provide outstanding sportfishing opportunities for visitors in Southeast Alaska. Arrival 07:00 / Departure 16:00
4. Day Icy Strait Point:
Down the road from Alaska’s largest Tlingit village exists a uniquely Alaskan place lcy Strait Point. It’s just 22 miles southeast of Glacier Bay National Park and it’s the only wilderness port in Alaska. The area has been the homeland to the Huna Tlingit Natives for thousands of years. It’s beauty, grandeur, history and people offer you a glimpse into the real Alaska. Decades ago, Icy Strait Point was the home of one of the world’s most productive salmon canneries. Today, it’s a living testament to the past. Beautifully restored, the Icy Strait Point Cannery reopened in 2004. Its halls are filled with unique family-owned shops, a museum, and a mid-1930's cannery line display. Discover an industry’s past at the Icy Strait Point Cannery today.
Arrival 09:00 / Departure 18:00
5. Day Juneau:
Established as a gold camp and now Alaska's capital city Juneau is the third largest city within the state. Juneau is full of contrasts, a sophisticated cosmopolitan city in the heart of the lush green Tongass National Forest. Nestled at the base of towering mountains dominated by the 1500 square mile Juneau Icefield and overlooking the Gastineau Channel, the community's rich culture and history is displayed throughout the town. Arrival 07:00 / Departure 22:30
6. Day Sitka:
Explore the many sights of Sitka. National Historic Park: This scenic 107 acre park preserves and interprets the site of a Tlingit Indian Fort and the battle fought between the Russians and the Tlingits in 1804. A fine collection of Haida & Tlingit totem poles were moved there from the Louisiana Exposition in St. Louis in 1904, and in April, 1996, a locally carved totem was raised in traditional ceremonial style. The museum contains an exhibit of Tlingit and Russian artifacts. Please visit the Park's auditorium to view the fascinating historical movie depicting Sitka's colorful and rich past. The main building houses authentic original totems, a fine indoor museum artifact display, and an active Tlingit arts program/studio where the public can watch and talk to local Alaskan Native Indian artists. Sheldon Jackson Museum: Home to one of the oldest native culture collections in Alaska, collected by Dr. Sheldon Jackson, General Agent of Education, between 1880 and 1900. The present building, the first concrete building in Alaska, was erected in 1895. St. Michael’s Cathedral: Important collection of Russian Orthodox art and church treasures. Built in 1844-48, it was totally destroyed by fire in January 1966. Many of the icons and religious objects were salvaged and are in the rebuilt structure. Arrival 07:00 / Departure 16:00
7. Day Hubbard Glacier Cruising:
Hubbard Glacier is the largest tidewater glacier on the North American continent. It has been thickening and advancing toward the Gulf of Alaska since it was first mapped by the International Boundary Commission in 1895. If Hubbard Glacier continues to advance, it will close the seaward entrance of Russell Fiord and create the largest glacier-dammed lake on the North American continent in historic times. Hubbard Glacier begins its 76 Mile journey to the sea on the slopes of Mount Logan, the tallest moutain in Canada and part of the largest non-polar icefield in the world. At the point where it enters Disenchantment Bay, at the head of Yakutat Bay, it is 6 Miles wide
